FAQs

What is a Strong play?
As we mentioned earlier we often have plays that we will refer to as a "strong play". While we don't rate our plays in the traditional 1-5 rating we will however "step out" on certain plays. What this means is that we will increase our bet to twice what our normal plays is. Example: If your average play (unit) is $100.00 then we would recommend you wager $200.00 on a "strong play".

What does a $.20 line in Hockey mean?

What this refers to is the difference between the price you will get when betting on the favorite vs. betting on the underdog. Example: Chicago Blackhawks -200 vs. St. Louis Blues +180. Here is a $.20 cent line. The difference between the 200 and 180 is 20. In betting terms this equates to a $.20 cent line. Note: The higher the price on the favorite, the greater the difference between the 2 numbers. Example: Detroit Red Wings -280 vs. Columbus Blue Jackets +240. Note that the difference is now $.40.

What does a $.10 line in Baseball mean?
Same way the line works in hockey except that the difference between the 2 betting numbers is $.10 Note: Just like in hockey as the favorite number gets higher the underdog will no longer be a $.10 line. Will most likely be a $.20 + line.

What is a push?
A push is a tie on a game.

Example: Oakland Raiders -3 vs. KC Chiefs O/U 37.5
Final RAIDERS 20- CHIEFS 17. In this scenario the Raiders won by 3 but didn't cover the number. The Chiefs lost by 3 but with the 3 points they were given tied the Raiders. The result is referred to as a PUSH and the money bet is refunded.

The total points scored, 37, went UNDER the total posted of 37.5 and hence would be a winner. Totals can also be pushes if they land exactly on the posted number which is why you will see some bookmakers always have their totals posted w/a 1/2 pt.

What are some of the different types of wagers?
Straight bet: This is the most common wager. You bet just 1 side of the game, the favorite or underdog.

Total bet: You bet the OVER or UNDER of the game.

Parlay: This is where you make a bet that has more than 1 bet involved and in order to win the bet all bets have to win. Example: A two-team parlay. Chicago Bears -3 vs. Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos -2.5 vs. San Diego Chargers. Here you are wagers the Bears and the Broncos will win their game and cover the number. If both teams do this you would win. If 1 team covers the number and the other does not you lose. The payouts on parlays increase as the number of bets in the parlay increase.

These are the 3 most popular types of bets. There are also a slew of exotic bets that some bookmakers post. These include Round Robins, 1st half & 2nd half bets, run-lines, teasers, etc.
